Thaiboxning: Den 17/7 får Arvika sin första thaiboxningsgala när Rumble On the Thai Roof går av stapeln. Med finns delar av eliten inom Sverige.

Det är Remy Brändefalk som står bakom initiativet som tagit rekordtid att realisera.

– Vi har hållit på med det här sedan efter Fight Night i Karlstad 15 maj, berättar Remy som är grundare av Sit RB FightGym i Arvika.

Även om arbetet mer konkret inleddes då har han gått i sådana tankar innan.

– Jag pratade med dem på Thai Kök om vi inte skulle göra något under Arvikafestivalen som har med Thailand att göra. Eftersom thaiboxning är deras nationalsport passade det väldigt bra.

Galan kommer att ha åtta matcher och äga rum på parkeringen som ligger på taket av Thai Kök. Förhoppningen är att locka dit uppemot två hundra åskådare. Att Arvikafestivalen ska hämma besökarantalet oroar sig inte Remy för.

– De som är intresserade kommer att dyka upp, säger han. Sedan är det inte så otroligt om hundra av alla festivalbesökarna letar sig hit. Vi kommer att finnas med affischer ute på campingen.

Galan har lyckats få ihop en bra lista med matcher. Flera av de bästa inom sina viktklasser i Sverige kommer att gå mot varandra men besökarna bjuds också på ett rent derby när Remy går upp mot klubbkamraten Florin Cioupsu.

– Alexander Arutyunyan är svensk mästare i sin viktklass och de andra är topp fem inom sina. Det här är en gala som håller hög kvalitet i Sverige och också i Norden.

Den här galan blir också ett sätt för Remys klubb att fira sitt ettårsjubileum och han är glad att kunna ge Arvika en möjlighet att ta del av sporten.

– Jag har gjort mycket för att försöka sprida thaiboxning, säger han. Det är viktigt att visa den här sporten som den ska utövas.

Efter arrangemanget blickar Remy framåt och hoppas på större galor i staden.

– Min stora dröm är ju att köra en stor gala här. Kanske i Sporthallen.
